Offshore staff
KERCH, Ukraine – Zaliv Shipyard has established a strategic partnership with Bergen Group Shipbuilding.
The new company, named NorYards AS, will specialize in construction of complexvessels, providing concept design development, a comprehensive engineering package, hull construction, full outfitting of the vessel, and turnkey delivery to the owner.
Its assets will include:
- NorYards Fosen, specialized in construction of offshore ships, seismic, and diving vessels, capable of handling newbuilds, repairs, and conversions
- NorYards BMV, specialized in construction of advanced offshore ships, seismic vessels, diving vessels, and research vessels. This yard can handle new buildings and conversions
- NorYards Zaliv, specialized in construction of partially outfitted hulls of platform supply vessels (PSVs), anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTSs), seismic research vessels, offshore construction vessels, barges, and floating docks. The yard can accommodate new buildings, repairs and conversions, and fabricate steel structures for the offshore oil and gas industry
- A ship design department will combine the design facilities of Bergen Group Fosen and Zaliv Engineering into a new company, NorYards Design & Engineering. The aim is to further develop the competence within advanced maritime design, to include design and engineering for offshore vessels, and to branch into conversions to LNG-powered vessels and new LNG-powered ship designs.
NorYards Zaliv will take on construction of steel hulls, with outfitting works split between Ukraine and Norway for different projects. Partner suppliers and subcontractors will begin outfitting at the hull yard while all high-end outfitting will be performed at NorYards Fosen and NorYards BMV.
NorYards AS can offer clients financing under which up to 100% of the hull construction costs must be paid only after the hull arrives in Norway.
The company plans to focus on diving support vessels, ROVs, seismic, cable and flexible pipe layers, light drilling, well intervention, offshore construction and seismic survey vessels, and AHTSs, PSVs, standby and offshore supply vessels. Another goal is to develop a series of “Eco vessels” designed to lower lifetime operating costs.
NorYards AS will work closely with designers and ship owners to develop new concepts to suit emerging requirements, making use of its in-house design force of around 100 engineers and naval architects.
