GE opens new Brazilian offshore logistics base

GE Oil & Gas has opened a new logistics base for the Brazilian oil and gas sector.

RIO DE JANEIRO –GE Oil & Gas (NYSE: GE) has opened a new logistics base for the Brazilian oil and gas sector. With an area of 590,000 sq ft (54,813 sq m) and investments that exceed $100 million, GE’s base in Niteroi in the state of Rio de Janeiro is designed primarily to load and unload installer ships.

The base has a 320-ton (290-metric ton) capacity crane, the largest "hammerhead" in the world. The site also has three warehouses that have a total area of 55,000 sq ft (5,110 sq m) for storage of accessories and parts.
