AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – Element Materials Technology has completed a two-year overhaul/expansion program at its laboratory in Breda, the Netherlands.

The facility provides testing, microscopic examination, chemical analysis, corrosion testing, fracture mechanics, and failure analysis to oil industry majors and their supply chain contractors.

It is now preparing to launch more specialized fracture mechanics testing and “fit for purpose” engineering critical assessments.

Floor space has increased to more than 990 sq m (10,656 sq ft) and the building has been redesigned to provide a more open layout, which will allow clients to view tests in situ.

New equipment includes test frames and more advanced digital servo controllers. In addition, the fracture mechanics department team has been expanded with new recruits, supported by fatigue/fracture mechanics specialist Andy Barron.
