Dragon Oil outlines Caspian drilling schedule

Dragon Oil has provided an update on its drilling rigs in the Cheleken Contract Area of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan – Dragon Oil has provided an update on its drilling rigs in the Cheleken Contract Area of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

TheNeptunejackup is preparing to spud the Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov) 21/101 well in mid-January. The rig is scheduled to be available for nine months, and should then be replaced by the Mercury jackup, which is scheduled to arrive in the Caspian Sea in 4Q 2014.

The leased platform-based rig Land Rig 1 has completed scheduled maintenance and should begin drilling on the Dzheitune (Lam) 22 platform this month.

Land Rig 2 will be on the Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov) A platform and should start drilling the Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov) A/102 appraisal/development well in February.

Another platform-based rig, Land Rig 3, is expected to arrive this fall.

TheCaspian Driller jackup rig is now expected in mid-2014, following further delays on the contractor’s part.
