LONDON – The AMEC Tekfen Azfen (ATA) consortium has won a $974-million contract for the Stage 2 development of the Shah Deniz gas field in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.

Scope includes fabrication, load out, offshore hook-up, and commissioning of the topsides for the two Stage 2 platforms (production and risers and quarters and utilities).

The ATA fabrication yard in Bibi-Heybat near Baku will build both sets of topsides, with AMEC responsible for project management and construction. Assembly is expected to get under way this month, with completion expected in 2018.

As part of the ATA consortium, AMEC has to date delivered three large platform topsides in the Caspian Sea and provided offshore asset support services. ATA’s most recent delivery was the 19,000-metric ton (20,944-ton) COP-WC project.
