GALVESTON, Texas – GVA Consulting, a subsidiary of KBR, is highlighting the capabilities of its GVA 33000 deep draft semisubmersible production unit at the Topsides Conference & Exhibition being held in Galveston.
The GVA 33000 semisubmersible is designed to operate in mild to harsh environments, and in water depth to 7,000 ft (2,100 m). It will be 146 m (479 ft) in length; 137 m (449.5 ft) in overall width; with a topsides load of 33,000 m tons (36,376 tons).
The vessel capacities include an oil production rate of 225,000 b/d; a gas production rate of 75 MMcf/d; with a water injection rate of 200,000 b/d. It is designed to accommodate 100 persons.
These designs are being used for the construction of floating production unit (FPU) that will be deployed on theJack & St. Malo project, currently under development by Chevron in the Gulf of Mexico.
KBR won a contract fromChevron U.S.A. Inc. in 2011 to execute detailed design engineering for the Jack & St. Malo FPU, which will be deployed to produce reserves in the Lower Tertiary trend in deepwater GoM.
The Jack & St. Malo fields are within 25 mi (40 km) of one another approximately 280 mi (450 km) south of New Orleans, Louisiana, in water depths of 7,000 ft. The semisubmersible is designed to minimize vessel motion and to provide acceptable fatigue lives of the moorings, risers and umbilicals.
