CAYENNE, French Guiana – Shell has started drilling the second of four successive wells on the Guyane Maritime permit offshore French Guiana.

The GM-ES-3 well will test the Priodontes prospect, according to Wessex, a minority shareholder in the permit. The well will also provide geological data critical to improve understanding of the area’s potential as an oil province.
