WESTHILL, UK –NCS Survey has taken delivery of two Gavia AUVs of the Offshore Surveyor series.
Each AUV has a high-resolution side-scan sonar, multi-beam echo sounder, sub-bottom profiler, ultra-short baseline positioning system, long baseline, GPS, and inertial navigation.
NCS expects the new equipment will be usedto provide ultra-high-resolution data for pipeline and platform inspections; scour monitoring surveys; cable and pipe route surveys; and offshore wind farm surveys.
The vehicles are rated to 1,000 m (3,280 ft) and can operate in waters as shallow as 2 m (6½ ft).
