Latest Turkmen well helps Dragon meet year-end target

Dragon Oil has completed drilling and initial testing of a further development well in the Cheleken Contract Area in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan – Dragon Oil has completed drilling and initial testing of a further development well in the Cheleken Contract Area in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

TheDzheitune (Lam) A/177 well was completed as a single producer to a depth of 3,085 m (10,121 ft), testing at an initial production rate of 1,796 b/d of oil. The jackup that drilled the well is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance.

Dr. Abdul Jaleel Al Khalifa, CEO of Dragon, said: “With this well we conclude an intensive drilling program for [2012], having completed 15 wells against the initial target of between 13 and 15 wells set at the beginning of the year.

“We have been producing at well above 70,000 b/d since mid-August and we firmly re-iterate our production growth guidance of 10% for 2012.”
