    Iran targets big increase in production from South Pars

    Iran has produced 500 bcm (17.7 tcf) of natural gas over the past 15 years from the South Pars field in the Persian Gulf, according to Iranian Oil Ministry data.

    TEHRAN, Iran – Iran has produced 500 bcm (17.7 tcf) of natural gas over the past 15 years from the South Pars field in the Persian Gulf, according to Iranian Oil Ministry data.

    Currently, the country says it is recovering 285-300 MMcm/d (10-11 bcf/d) from the various field development phases, expected to exceed 700 MMcm/d (25 bcf/d) once all28 phases are completed.

    Since last March, Iran reports extracting 2.65 bcm (94 bcf) of rich gas fromSouth Pars Phase 1, more than 14.7 bcm (518 bcf) of rich gas from phases 2 and 3, 15.7 bcm (554 bcf) from phases 3 and 4, 18.7 bcm (660 bcf) from phases 6-8, and more than 11.11 bcm (392 bcf) from phases 9 and 10.

    The field covers an area of 3,700 sq km (1,428 sq mi), and straddles the median line with Qatar. Reserves are estimated at 14 tcm (494 tcf) of gas and 18 Bbbl of condensate.
