Eni acquires blocks in deepwater Cyprus

Eni has signed exploration and production-sharing contracts for three deepwater blocks offshore Cyprus.

SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has signed exploration and production-sharing contracts for three deepwater blocks offshore Cyprus.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus awarded Eni 80% operating interests in blocks 2, 3, and 9 in theCypriot deep offshore portion of the Levantine basin, in partnership with South Korean company Kogas. The blocks cover 12,530 sq km (4,839 sq mi).

Deepwater wells in this region have led to numerouslarge gas discoveries in the Israeli and Cypriot sector.
