MOSCOW – Lukoil says assembly has started in Baku, Azerbaijan of a transport and installation barge (TIB) for offshore platforms at the Vladimir Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea.

The TIB will be used for mounting piles to the platforms’ substructures and installation of interconnecting bridges via an offshore crane with 400-ton loading capacity.

Additionally, the vessel will install topside sections of the drilling platform (IRFP-1), the central processing platform (CPP), and the living quarter module platform (LQM -1).

Its loading capacity will be 13,450 ton, with an overall length of 140.3 m (460.3 ft), and a width of 62.3 m (204.3 ft).

The T-shaped TIB will comprise two main pontoons and two additional pontoons (outriggers) that will ensure increased load capacity and vessel stability while transporting very heavy and outsize cargo, such as the IRFP-1 and CPP topside sections.

Assembly and testing of the TIB should be completed by mid-March.
