CIS wins offshore Qatar well conductor work

Al-Shaheen Weatherford has contracted Conductor Installation Services (CIS) for an extensive program of well engineering offshore Qatar.

GREAT YARMOUTH, UK --Al-Shaheen Weatherford has contractedConductor Installation Services (CIS) for an extensive program of well engineering offshore Qatar.

Over the course of the three-year contract, due to start end-March, CIS will provide conductor-driving and cold-cutting services for around 55 new wells on behalf of an unnamed major operator in the region.

CIS personnel will work from the company’s operations base in Doha, Qatar. They will use 90 kJ hydraulic hammers to drive the 20-in. conductors forming part of the wells’ foundations, with a backup set and buffer set of hammers available should two separate operations need to be performed simultaneously.

Since 2008, the company has provided conductor installations for various fields in Qatar, including driving 29 conductor piles for one operator over the past three years

Al-Shaheen Weatherford is a joint venture between Al-Shaheen Holding (a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum) and Weatherford Holding BVI (a subsidiary of Weatherford International).
