ESBJERG, Denmark --Lamprell Energy has contracted Blue Water Shipping to transport a new LeTourneau S116E jackup to the Caspian Sea.

The dismantled rig will be taken from Lamprell’s Hamriyah construction complex in the UAE via the Volga-Don river system to a yard in Russia.

Transport covers four-part shipments and will start this summer of 2013, with completion expected in spring 2014. In total, Blue Water will handle lifts of up to 1,000 metric tons (1,102 tons), with modules up to 17.35 m (57 ft) tall passing through the Volga-Don River.
This is the second successive jackup Lamprell is building for Eurasia Drilling Co. (EDC), the leading drilling contractor in the Caspian Sea. Blue Water transported the first jackup last year via the same route.
