Atwood Orca lands first contract

HOUSTON – Atwood Oceanics has been awarded a drilling services contract with Mubadala Petroleum for the Atwood Orca, under construction at PPL Shipyard in Singapore.

The Pacific class 400 jackup will be capable of operating in water depths up to 400 ft (122 m) and rated to drill up to 30,000 ft (9,144 m).

Following delivery in May 2013, the rig will be mobilized to its first location offshore Thailand. The Mubadala Petroleum contract is worth $116 million, Atwood said.
