OSLO, Norway – Aker Solutions (Oslo Børs:AKSO) has agreed to acquire a majority stake in subsea well control equipment specialist Enovate Systems.

Aberdeen-based Enovate, which employs 62 people, has developed a range of components and products for use in open water workover systems, riser workover systems, rigless intervention, and drilling safety systems. Applications include high-pressure and ultra-deepwater fields.

Claimed advantages are superior cutting and sealing capabilities, and use of metal-to-metal sealing solutions that lessen the likelihood of leakage.

Assuming regulatory approvals for the acquisition, Aker says Enovate will continue to develop as an independent supplier of well control components to subsea integrators, oilfield equipment manufacturers, and oil companies.
