Aker awarded Aasta Hansteen deepwater umbilicals

Statoil (OSE:STL) has contracted Aker Solutions to supply deepwater umbilicals for the Aasta Hansteen field development in the Norwegian Sea.

STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil (OSE:STL) has contracted Aker Solutions to supply deepwater umbilicals for the Aasta Hansteen field development in the Norwegian Sea.

Contract value is about $51 million. Scope of work includes design, engineering and manufacturing of dynamic and static steel tube umbilicals, a riser base, and ancillary equipment.

Aker Solutions’ plant in Norway will manufacture the umbilicals, with the company’s facility in Fornebu providing management, design and engineering, and the Egersund factory providing the umbilical riser base.

Aasta Hansteen will develop the Luva, Haklang, and Snefrid South fields in a water depth of up to 1,300 m (4,265 ft) using a spar platform. The fields are 300 km (186 mi) west of Bodø and 140 km (87 mi) north of the Norne production complex.
