Ruling clears obstructions to Leviathan development offshore Israel

The Supreme Court in Israel has rejected petitions concerning the government’s decision to adopt the Zemach Committee recommendations for exports of natural gas.

TEL AVIV, Israel – The Supreme Court in Israel has rejected petitions concerning the government’s decision to adopt the Zemach Committee recommendations for exports of natural gas.

Delek Group, a partner in the variousdeepwater gas discoveries in the Levantine basin, welcomed the ruling, adding that it would now focus on advancing development of the 19-tcf (538-bcm) Leviathan field.

TheNoble Energy-led partnership is examining export options to various countries in the Mediterranean region through a pipeline, LNG facilities, and/or FLNG. In addition, they are continuing negotiations that could bring Woodside Petroleum onboard as a participant.
