COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Premier Oil Norge has contracted Maersk Drilling’s jackup Maersk Guardian to drill the Myrhauk exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea.

The program should last around 62 days and will start next summer following completion of a program for Lundin Norway.

This is Maersk Drilling’s first contract from Premier in the Norwegian sector, where it owns six of the nine jackups presently operating in the region.

Addtionally, four new harsh-environment Maersk XL Enhanced (CJ-70) jackups should enter the Norwegian market between 2014 and 2016. All have already secured long-term contracts.
