RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras reports that the P-58 FPSO and the SS-88 tender assisted drilling (TAD) support vessel are on their way to their respective locations in the Parque das Baleias and Papa Terra fields.
On Dec. 4, theP-58 FPSO left the Honório Bicalho shipyard in Rio Grande, and is expected to reach the Parque das Baleias complex in the Campos basin within six to eight days.
TheSS-88 TAD submersible platform, built by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. (DSIC) in China and by Superior Derrick Services (SDS) in the US, is expected to arrive in January 2014. It will go to the Papa-Terra field, south of the Campos basin, to operate with the P-61 production platform in Papa Terra field.
TheP-58 FPSO (which produces, stores, and offloads oil) can process 180,000 b/d, as well as 6 MMcm (212 MMcf) of natural gas from presalt and post-salt reservoirs.
TheP-58 will be located about 85 km 53 mi) off the Espírito Santo coast, in 1,400 m (4,592 ft) of water. It will be interconnected to 15 production wells, of which eight are presalt and seven are post-salt, with nine injection wells in the Baleia Franca, Cachalote, Jubarte, Baleia Azul, and Baleia Anã fields, along 250 km (155 mi) of flexible pipe and two underwater manifolds. The oil will be pumped into tankers, and natural gas will be sent by pipeline to the Cacimbas gas treatment unit in Linhares, Espírito Santo.
TheSS-88 vessel is a semisubmersible platform chartered by Petrobras together with Bass Drill, to provide drilling and well completion services. The SS-88 will work together with, and be anchored alongside, the P-61 tension-leg wellhead platform in Papa Terra. The vessel has a modularized drilling package that will be set up on the deck of the P-61. The SS-88 will supply energy, accommodations, and support systems to enable wells to be drilled from the P-61 platform.
TheP-61 platform is the first tension-leg wellhead platform in Brazil, and 13 production wells are scheduled to be drilled and completed from it. Its hull was built and integrated at the BrasFels Shipyard in Angra dos Reis. The topside was built in Singapore.
In the Papa Terra field,P-61 and the SS-88 TAD vessel will work together with the P-63 FPSO, which began oil production on Nov. 11.
