More LNG planned for Sakhalin II

MOSCOW -- Gazprom and Shell have discussed expansion of the Sakhalin II project offshore eastern Russia.

They plan to construct athird LNG process train in Prigorodnoye settlement, Sakhalin Island.

In February, they expect to sign a detailed “road map” for the associated front end engineering design documents.

Sakhalin Energy is the Sakhalin II project operator. Partners are Gazprom, Shell, Mitsui, and Mitsubishi.

The first LNG plant wascommissioned in 2009, and the following year the complex reached its design capacity of 9.6 MM tons/yr.
