ZWIJNDRECHT, the NetherlandsHeerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has opened a new fabrication facility in southern Poland.

The company established HFG Polska in 2008 in Opole, by the river Odra, to fabricate small, intricate steel structures mainly for use inoffshore production platforms. These include plate girders, conductor guides, nodes, and staircases.

HFG Polska’s welders, fitters, and steelworkers alternate between working on site and the three larger HFG fabrication yards on the Dutch and English coasts.

Construction of the new facility started in March and was completed in six months. HFG describes it as a “state-of-the-art” covered fabrication hall measuring 120 m (393 ft) long, 32 m (105 ft) wide and 16 m (52 ft) high.
