Transocean subsidiary awards construction contracts for five newbuild jackups

A subsidiary of Transocean Ltd. has awarded contracts to Keppel FELS Ltd.’s shipyard in Singapore for the construction of five Super B 400 Bigfoot Class jackup drilling rigs.

ZUG, Switzerland – A subsidiary of Transocean Ltd. has awarded contracts to Keppel FELS Ltd.’s shipyard in Singapore for the construction of five Super B 400 Bigfoot Class jackup drilling rigs. The combined cost for the five rigs is $1.2 billion.

The jackups will be capable of operating in water depths up to 400 ft (122 m) and drilling wells to 35,000 ft (10,668 m).

The first rig is expected to be delivered in 1Q 2016, and the remaining four jackups are to be delivered at four-month intervals thereafter.
