OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized the Norwegian offshore gas trunklines operator Gassco to proceed with a change in use of the B11 compressor station in the German North Sea.

It can now be classed as a “cold” facility, meaning that hydrocarbons are no longer processed or present on board, and normally operated unmanned.

B11 is one of two compressor facilities on theNorpipe gas pipeline that runs from the Ekofisk field in the southern Norwegian North Sea to Emden in northern Germany. Gassco plans to keep the facility in its new status until it is removed, by 2016 at the latest.
