SHARJAH, UAE -- Lamprell (LON:LAM) has completed construction and delivery of the jackupJindal Star to Jindal Pipes (Singapore).

The rig was handed over on budget, 20 months after first steel was cut at Lamprell’s Hamriyah facility.

Jindal Star, which weighs 10,500 metric tons (11,574 tons), is a LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced), self-elevating 477-ft (145-m) leg design. Its spud cans were redesigned and fitted with extensions to meet Jindal’s requirement concerning maximum ground bearing pressure in Indian waters.

Lamprell has now built 13 new jackups, six of the LeTourneau Super 116 E design and seven of the Friede & Goldman Super M2 design. It currently has eight further LeTourneau rigs in various stages of construction, including a second rig for Jindal.
