HOUSTON – The Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs for the twin-island Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago has enlisted IHS to facilitate private meetings with E&P executives in Houston on Oct. 24-25 to discuss the country’s 2013 Deepwater Competitive Bid Round.
The round will offer six offshore blocks for lease in the country’s East Coast Marine Area and Trinidad and Tobago Deep Atlantic Area, northeast of Venezuela. Deadline for submission of bids is Jan. 31, 2014. The 2012 Deepwater Competitive Bid Round offered six blocks – four of which were awarded to BHP Billiton.
The exploration blocks on offer for the 2013 round include TTDAA1, TTDAA2, TTDAA3, TTDAA7, TTDAA30, and TTDAA31. These blocks lie east of the country’s currently producing oil and gas fields, and include acreage covering 40,000 sq km (15,444 sq mi) with a mix of water depths ranging from 600 m to 3,500 m (1,969 ft to 11,483 ft), as well as diverse hydrocarbon play types and production potential.
The risk assessment in all of the blocks is facilitated by previously acquired 2D and 3D seismic data, by well penetrations, and by the proximity of these blocks to known hydrocarbon pools and production. In addition to reprocessed 2D data, another seismic survey was conducted by PGS, and a comprehensive deepwater analysis of the area was conducted by Dynamic Global Advisors of Houston.
