NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, UK – UTEC Geomarine has completed a geotechnical survey west of Shetland.
The company used its ROV-deployed geoROV cone penetration test (CPT) and sampling system. Altogether it investigated 111 CPT, 44 cyclic T-bar, and 32 push samples test locations.
Additionally, for the first time UTEC Geomarine deployed its suction anchor tooling skid geoREACT to enhance seabed reaction and stability for the tests, and its new variable frequency vibro-core system geoVC.
The latter is claimed to improve available coring energy and control, helping to maximize sample and data recovery.
Offshore Ireland, the company has conducted a marine geotechnical and environmental survey in Dublin Bay, recovering 21 cores up to 6 m (19.7 ft) long.
