HOUSTON – GMC Inc. has won a contract to deliver a high-strength fatigue-resistant mechanical connector as part of Total’s Republic of Congo Moho Nord TLP project.
GMC will supply over 100 sets of its concentric thread, pin and box type connectors under contract to Hutchinson Offshore’s Techlam S.A., which is supplying the entire TLP tendon system to Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The 16,500-ton TLP hull and topsides will be vertically moored in water depths greater than 780 m (2,559 ft) by the tendon-tethering system.
GMC’s connectors will provide the intermediary connectors on the tendons. The 24-in. outside-diameter connectors will have a tension capacity rated at more than 2,000 tons. The scope of supply includes the connectors, the make and break tool, and a tendon-handling tool. GMC technicians will support Heerema on the tendon installation.
