CNOOC offers 25 offshore blocks for cooperation projects

China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) is offering 25 new offshore blocks for cooperation projects with foreign companies. Seventeen of the blocks are located in the South China Sea, three are in the East China Sea, and five are in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea.

BEIJING –China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) is offering 25 new offshore blocks for cooperation projects with foreign companies. Seventeen of the blocks are located in the South China Sea, three are in the East China Sea, and five are in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea.

According toChina Daily, CNOOC plans to invite foreign firms to bid for oil and gas projects in these blocks, which cover a total area of 102,577 sq km (39,605 sq mi). Interested firms may access the data related to the blocks after applying for the projects, and the data will be available for viewing until Dec. 30. None of the blocks offered are located in disputed territorial waters.

The company has announced plans to double its oil and gas production by 2020, and to triple it by 2030 from 2010 levels.
