HOUSTON –Cameron (NYSE: CAM) has announced the award of gas processing packages from SBM Offshore for FPSOs which are destined for Lula field pre-salt area offshore Brazil.

The FPSOs, theCidade de Maricá and Cidade de Saquarema, are being built by SBM and will be replicas of the Cidade de Ilhabela FPSO project currently underway in Brazil, where Cameron is providing gas dehydration and CO2 removal packages to SBM.

The Cameron packages for the new contract will be primarily used for gas dehydration and acid gas removal before routing the gas to reinjection compressors. These packages will process about 5.7 MMcm/d of natural gas.

Cameron says its gas dehydration packages are molecular sieve-based units which dehydrate natural gas streams to extremely low levels and can process gas to much lower dew points than glycol dehydration systems. They are designed to be effective over a wide range of operating conditions and are fully automated for ease of operation and maintenance.

The company says its CYNARA membrane systems are robust and have been field-proven for nearly 30 years in onshore and offshore applications. CYNARA membranes process a wide range of feed streams containing from 5 to 91 mol% CO2. This technology provides bulk separation of CO2 and H2S for gas streams with both a varying production rate and varying inlet CO2 content.

Providing more than 99% uptime, Cameron says that the CYNARA membranes can withstand hydrocarbon liquids produced during the separation without compromising the performance.

“The new award represents SBM’s continued confidence with Cameron when meeting the challenges of local content, supply chain and schedule in executing projects in Brazil,” said Owen Serjeant, president of Cameron’s Process and Compression Systems business segment.
