PERTH, Australia – Sunbird Energy has contracted Wood Group Kenny Australia to support the Ibhubesi gas project offshore the west coast of South Africa.
The initial phase of WGK’s work concerns the concept and definition phases, with the aim of taking the project into front-end engineering and design early next year. It will likely include a subsea gathering system, an offshore processing facility, a subsea pipeline around 400 km (248 mi) long, and an onshore plant.
Sunbird Energy agreed to acquire a 76% stake in the Ibhubesi gas field in 2012. Its joint venture partner in the project is South Africa’s national oil companyPetroSA.
