Statoil to explore new targets in Njord area

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Statoil to drill two exploration wells in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Statoil to drill two exploration wells in the Norwegian Sea.

The semisubmersibleSonga Trym will drill wells 6407/8-6 and 6407/8-6 A in license PL348 after completing a current wildcat for Statoil in PL128.

Locations are 4 km (2.5 mi) west of theHyme field and 16 km (9.9 mi) northeast of the Njord field. These will be the seventh and eighth wells on the license, which was awarded under Norway’s APA 2004 round.
