LONDON – Hansa Hydrocarbons has agreed to farm into 15% of two licenses in the UK southern North Sea held by Dana Petroleum (E&P).
The P.1566 license covers blocks 47/4d and 47/5d, while P.1742 takes in blocks 47/10c and 48/6c. An exploration well is due to be drilled later this year on thePharos prospect in P.1566.
Pharos is 50 km (31 mi) northeast of the Easington gas processing terminal on the English east coast, and is due west of the Hyde field in theWest Sole Area complex. Recent reprocessing of 3D seismic followed by independent depth conversions have confirmed potential for a significant gas accumulation in the Leman sandstones.
The jackupNoble Lynda Bossler will drill well 47/5d-F in a water depth of 38 m (124 ft). Aside from delineating Pharos, data from the well should further understanding of remaining prospectivity in the area, including the Blackadder prospect to the south in license P.1742.
Assuming ratification of the transaction, Dana will retain a 35% operating interest, with Hansa joining existing partners Dyas Exploration UK, MPX North Sea, and Parkmead (E&P) for P.1566; and Dyas and Parkmead for P.1742.
