Eni strikes gas again offshore Mozambique

MILAN, Italy –Eni continues its string of successful wells in offshore Mozambique Area 4 with a gas discovery at the Agulha exploration well. Work is under way to finalize the assessment and to plan an appraisal strategy.

Eni’s preliminary estimates are that the structure could hold 5-7 tcf of gas, and three additional wells could be drilled in 2014.

The well is the10th drilled in Area 4 and went to TD of 6,203 m (20,346 ft) in 2,492 m (8,174 ft) water depth about 80 km (50 mi) off Cabo Delgado.

Eni is the operator of Area 4 with a 50% indirect interest owned through Eni East Africa, which holds 70% of Area 4. The other partners are Galp Energia (10%), KOGAS (10%), and ENH (10%, carried through the exploration phase).CNPC owns a 20% indirect participation in Area 4 through Eni East Africa.
