Drydocks World to refurbish three rigs for NDC

ABU DHABI, UAE – National Drilling Co. (NDC) has awarded Drydocks World four maintenance and upgrade projects.

These cover threeoffshore rigsAl-Hail, Al-Ghallan, and Al-Ittihad – and NDC’s multi-purpose barge Al-Ghweifat. Work has already started on the Al-Hail.

Yesterday, Drydocks World staged a sailaway ceremony to mark the start of delivery of thePrelude floating LNG turret modules to Shell. The first module, the bogie support structure, is 22 m (72 ft) high, with a diameter of 30 m (98 ft) and a weight of 1,300 metric tons (1,433 tons).

It will be transported to South Korea for integration with the 488-m (1,601-ft) long, 600,000-metric ton (661,397-ton)Prelude FLNG vessel. Other modules will follow soon.

The vessel will work at the Prelude field 200 km (124 mi) offshore northwest Australia. According to Drydocks World, the 100-m (328-ft) turret is the largest ever built.
