STAVANGER, Norway – E.ON E&P has shut down production from the recently onstream Huntington field in the UK central North Sea.

This follows issues concerning the cargo tank venting system on board the FPSOVoyageur Spirit. The UK Health and Safety Executive has served a prohibition notice on the duty holder Teekay Petrojarl.

E.ON E&P said it was working with Teekay Petrojarl to resolve the problem. Depending on suitable weather conditions, it is considering a production re-start, possibly at a reduced rate, until the venting situation is resolved. Prior to the shutdown, Huntington was producing around 24,000 b/d of oil.

Commissioning continues of the gas compression system and is expected to be completed by the end of next week. According to partner Noreco, a permanent solution is currently scheduled for completion in late August.
