KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia –Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have halted plans to develop the Dorra offshore gas field. The two could not agree on how to share the gas, said a report by Reuters.

The initial agreement in 2000 was to jointly develop the field by sending the production through two offshore pipelines. Problems arose, said the Reuters’ report, about whether to send all the production ashore on Saudi Arabia and pipe Kuwait’s share overland, or to pipe Kuwait’s share directly to an onshore gas-fired power plant.

There also is a claim from Iran on the boundaries of the field that has not been settled.
