Norway opens latest license consultation process

The Norwegian Petroleum and Energy Ministry has called on oil companies to nominate blocks for inclusion in Norway’s 23rd licensing round.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum and Energy Ministry has called on oil companies to nominate blocks for inclusion in Norway’s 23rd licensing round.

The round’s main focus will be the southeastern part of the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea, previously off-limits to exploration due to a demarcation dispute with Russia. However, the Ministry also seeks nominations in the Norwegian Sea and the North Sea.

Nominations in the Barents Sea will be based onseismic surveys recently acquired on behalf of the Norwegian Petroluem Directorate.

All suggestions must be received by January 14 2014.
