Keppel FELS wins fifth semisubmersible order from Floatel

Floatel International has contracted Keppel FELS to build its fifth accommodation semisubmersible for delivery in 4Q 2015.

SINGAPORE – Floatel International has contracted Keppel FELS to build its fifth accommodation semisubmersible for delivery in 4Q 2015.

In 2010, the yard delivered the accommodation semis,Floatel Superior and Floatel Reliance, and it is currently constructing the Floatel Victory and Floatel Endurance.

The new semi, a sister vessel toFloatel Victory, will be built to Keppel’s proprietary SSAU5000NG design, customized for harsh and deepwater environments.

It will have accommodation for up to 500 personnel in one- and two-man cabins. Other features will include DP-3 capability and enhanced station-keeping, allowing it to operate securely alongside fixed platforms, floating platforms and FPSOs, a full spread of deck cranes, a large open deck area, workshops, and fire fighting capabilities.

The contract value is $280 million.
