Eni confirms offshore oil discovery in the Congo

Eni has confirmed discovery of wet gas and light oil offshore Congo in the Marine XII block.

MILAN, Italy –Eni has confirmed discovery of wet gas and light oil offshore Congo in the Marine XII block.

The first well, Nene’ Marine 1, is 17 km (10.5 mi) offshore in 24 m (79 ft) of water and was drilled to TD of 3,013 m (9,883 ft).

Nene’ Marine 2 is 2 km (1.2 mi) away from the first well and confirms a hydrocarbon accumulation and continuity of the reservoir, said Eni.

Both wells flowed commercial rates of 37º API crude oil.

Eni Congo S.A. is operator of Marine XII block with a 65% stake. Other partners are New Age with a 25% stake and state company SNPC (Societé Nationale des Pétroles du Congo) with 10% stake.
