Transocean sets new offshore water depth drilling record

Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) (SIX: RIGN) reports that the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 has set a new world record for the deepest water depth by an offshore drilling rig.

ZUG, Switzerland—Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) (SIX: RIGN) reports that the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 has set a new world record for the deepest water depth by an offshore drilling rig. 

The rig recently spudded a well in 10,411 ft (3,174 m) of water while working for ONGC off the east coast of India.

This accomplishment surpasses the company’sprior world record of 10,385 ft (3,165 m) of water also set by the KG1 in February while working for ONGC in India.
