PARIS - Chevron North Sea has awarded Technip an engineer, procure, construct, install contract for subsea facilities to go in the Alder field.

Chevron is developing Alder as a tieback to the Britannia Bridge Link in the UK central North Sea, in 150 m (492 ft) water depth.

Technip’s scope includes detailed design and installation of a 28-km (17.4 mi), 16-in. pipe-in-pipe system; installation of a 28-km hybrid umbilical; installation of a manifold structure including a high integrity pressure protection system, subsea isolation valve structure, valves, and spoolpiece components.

The group’s center in Aberdeen will execute the contract, which is due to be completed in spring 2015. Technip subsidiary Genesis will complete the detailed design workscope while Technip’s spoolbase in Evanton, northeast Scotland will fabricate the pipe-in-pipe.

DUCO in Newcastle, northeast England, will manufacture the umbilical.

Various vessels from the group’s fleet will participate in the offshore campaign, including the pipelay vessel Deep Energy.
