Statoil contracts EMAS AMC for North Sea floater installations

Statoil (OSE:STL) has awarded EMAS AMC a $126-million transport and installation contract for as many as three floating storage units (FSUs).

OSLO, Norway – Statoil (OSE:STL) has awarded EMAS AMC a $126-million transport and installation contract for as many as three floating storage units (FSUs).

One each is for theHeidrun and Mariner field developments in the Norwegian and UK sectors. Work scope for all three projects comprises pre-installation of mooring systems, followed by transport, hook-up, and installation of the FSUs.

Heidrun is in a water depth of about 350 m (1,148 ft) and started production of oil, gas, and NGLs in 1995. EMAS AMC expects to start offshore operations on the field’s newly commissioned FSU in mid-2014.

Mariner is east of Shetland in the UK northern North Sea in 110 m (361 ft) of water. EMAS AMC will start offshore operations in mid-2015. The development is expected to produce 55,000 b/d of oil during the peak period of 2017-2020.
