TOKYOMODEC International has reached a pre-sanction agreement with Hess Corporation to provide engineering and management services for the Stampede tension leg platform (TLP).

Work scope includes project management, engineering, procurement management, and construction management for the hull and mooring system of a conventional TLP, MODEC said. Continuing services are contingent upon the project’s sanction, which Hess has said will likely come in 2014.

The deepwater Gulf of Mexico project is a joint development of the Pony discovery, in Green Canyon block 468, and Knotty Head, in Green Canyon block 512. The TLP will be installed in water depths of approximately 3,550 ft (1,082 m).

Hess operates the development with 20% interest; Unocal (Chevron), BHP Billiton, Statoil, and Nexen each hold 20% working interest.
