AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – Development of the KG Deen Dayal West (DDW) field in the Krishna Godavari basin offshore eastern India is on track for first gas late this year.

According to partner Jubilant Energy, most of the offshore facilities are close to completion. Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. is the operator.

Thewellhead platform was installed in May 2011 with four development wells drilled. Due to the tight gas reservoir, the consortium has decided to hydrofrac the wells to improve productivity and recoverable volumes. Blade Energy is consultant for the program, with Halliburton starting hydrofrac operations on the first well this month.

Three further wells are being batch drilled – DDW-D5, D6, and D7.

The associated onshore gas terminal, close to Reliance’sKG D6 reception terminal, is expected to be commissioned in time for first gas. It will process the multi-phase dehydrated fluid received from the offshore process platform to meet gas sales specifications.

In February, the partners submitted a proposal to India’s Directorate General of Hydrocarbons for sixnatural gas discoveries in the KG-OSN-2001/3 block, namely, KG-16 in the DDE area, KG-22 in the DDN area, KG-21 and KG-31 in the DDW-DT area, KG-19 and KG-20SS in the DDNE-BRU area.
