DONG extends Maersk drilling rig hire through 2016

DONG Energy has contracted the jackup Maersk Resolve for drilling operations in the Danish North Sea.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark – DONG Energy has contracted the jackup Maersk Resolve for drilling operations in the Danish North Sea.

The nine-month contract is due to start in August as a direct continuation of its current contract in the UK. Contractor Maersk Drilling estimates the value at $58 million.

At the end of the planned term next June, the rig will undergo a scheduled yard stay before starting another five-well firm contract for DONG Energy, expected to last around two years.

Maersk Resolve will work on various programs for DONG, including the Hejre field development in the Danish sector, which will requires drilling of numerous deep and complicated high-pressure/high-temperature wells.
