HOUSTON – BPZ Energy has spud the first development well at the Corvina field CX-15 platform offshore Peru.
The CX15-1D well will be drilled to a total depth of about 7,400 ft (2,255 m) in offshore block Z-1.
The CX-15 platform, the first based on HortonGMC'sbuoyant tower design, was installed in 175-ft (53-m) water depths in September, 2012.
BPZ holds a 51% operated interest in block Z-1, which is being developed in partnership with Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp.
