OSLO, Norway – DNV Software has introduced new software solution that provides 3D simulation and visualization for marine operations. Applications include lifting and installation of topsides, modules and subsea structure, float-over installation, removal of topsides, and offloading tankers in tandem or side-by-side.

With Sesam Marine software, the company claims, it is possible to manage risk through calculation and visualization of the offshore task, taking into account environmental conditions and structural components. Realistic and thorough testing and evaluation of operations can be achieved using environmental conditions and dynamic positioning as parameters.

The ability to quickly visualize operations in 3D and run multiple “what-if” scenarios immediately showing the results of all known factors should lessen the risk of offshore installations, DNV adds.

DNV software director of operations, Stian Barkbu, added: “Technicians will see ahead of time how the components will react to the acting forces, what motion will be incurred, for example swing movements of equipment or the heeling force on a vessel or offshore structure.”
