Offshore staff
ZOETERMEER, the Netherlands – An accident has occurred on GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland’s L5A platform in the Dutch North Sea, leaving two staff members dead and one injured. The location is about 103 km (64 mi) north of Den Helder.
The incident arose during pressure tests on equipment this morning. At the time, the platform was depressurized and not in production.
GDF SUEZ says all relevant authorities have been informed, the injured person has been flown to a hospital on the mainland, and all other personnel on board have been accounted for. The company has activated its Emergency Response Plan.
