ASKER, Norway – TGS and Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) are cooperating on a 3D electromagnetic (EM) multi-client survey offshore northern Norway.

TheM/V Atlantic Guardian is acquiring the data over 11 blocks in the Hoop area of the Barents Sea, which spans about 3,300 sq km (1,274 sq mi). The survey is supported by industry funding.

EMGS will gain access to TGS’ 2D seismic data for survey planning and integration purposes, while TGS can view 3D EM data to evaluate and plan subsequent multi-client studies over the area.

Stein Ove Isaksen, senior vice president of Eastern Hemisphere for TGS, said: “Both companies have a strong track record in this area and several case studies have shown the value of integrating EM and seismic data to reduce exploration risk and identify new hydrocarbon prospects.”
